summer pants
i don't do skirts, i don't do shorts
Some people say the true fashion people of the world will give up anything for the sake of fashion. While I obviously love fashion, the one thing that will never get in the way for me is comfort.
The way I feel in an outfit affects my mood, how much I enjoy my day, and honestly, how confident I feel. When I’m comfortable, I feel like I look good. When I’m not, I’m either physically uncomfortable or I’m hyper-aware of something and thinking about it all day.
Ever since I was a kid, shorts and dresses have never really felt comfortable. I'm constantly wondering if my leg hair is showing, if I cross my legs the wrong way, or if people can see my underwear. Then there's the effortless look some people can pull off in shorts or tiny dresses. You know... Kate Moss in a mini dress with those tall Minnetonka boots. Somehow that has just never translated to my 5'2 frame. Instead of feeling cool, I just feel frumpy. Maybe I need to relax a little, but after 36 years, I don't think that's changing anytime soon.

So... pants are a really important part of my wardrobe. Not just in winter, but all year round. If you feel the same way, then I think you'll be able to trust my summer pant recommendations. I've been on this mission for the better part of 36 years.
There’s a few type of pants
Pants that you can launder easily (wear to a smelly beach, or to do chalk with the kids)
workhorse pants for day/night
fancy pants
The most important thing to remember here is fabrics. You must check the tags!
my #1: cotton poplin (crisp, smooth, breathable)
the ones to wear with the children or to easily wash out the “outdoor smell”
Most versatile for me are cotton poplin pants. I have collected many over the years, some no longer linkable but these, these, and these are, and one of my favourite cuts of pant now done in poplin -I am ordering immediately. Haven’t tried these but they look good and are fairly priced.
I do wash poplin at home on gentle cycle and hang dry. I don’t care that much about the wrinkles but if you do, a quick steam and they look great. If I plan on wearing them somewhere nicer than I will dry clean beforehand.
crepe…everyones travel favourite companion

newfound favourite … terry (beach, pool, splashpad friendly)
I wear these daytime with kids (or without) and keep them on for casual dinners too…
Wearing these below… but more price friendly here and here.
jersey cotton… pajamas for the day

workhorse day/night pant… silk
needs to be dry cleaned so i’m careful when I wear them, but light as air, so flattering… something to be said about the real deal.

taffeta
introduced to me by donni, a great fabric to make a simple cut more exciting. Feels like you’re wearing nothing! dry clean only
Linen…so many options

The workout pant… no, I don’t really wear leggings

new summer pants keep getting released and I will update if I add any to my collection in the chat!
That’s all for now! Hope you’re enjoying your summer so far.
