Catchup!
and i'm getting ready for fall, you?
Sorry I haven’t posted here in awhile. I am starting to understand why people put their writing behind a paywall. These posts take a long time to put together, at least if you want to do them well. As I keep going on this journey, I might put some of them behind a paywall just to get an idea of the demand. A lot of my work falls onto social media, and I am trying to find a balance between the platforms and what makes sense for you. On social media, we live at the mercy of algorithms and a constant flood of information. As a consumer myself, I’m starting to gag from almost everything I scroll through. It does not inspire me, it feels like the exact opposite in fact. For me, there is a lot of value in Substack. You can choose a small group of people you trust, instead of getting lost in endless content that leaves you with nothing once the doom scroll is over.
I’ve realized lately that my best fashion conversations often happen with my friends and my sister over text. I’ll catch myself thinking, I need to share this with you right now. The problem is I never know the best way. Instagram stories feel more formal than they used to, and posting too often there means fewer of you actually see what I share (thx IG!). Substack posts, for me, are more like big overviews, not the place to zoom in on the fit of one pair of pants.
So here’s my plan (open to your feedback of course): we’ll chat on Substack Chat. I’ve put a paywall on it because that’s where I’ll answer your specific fashion questions—and that takes time since I actually do the digging for you. It’s also a space where I feel safer being brutally honest, because it isn’t open to everyone. You know? Right now I’ve put my overview on Abercrombie poplin pants that I heard were amazing. I also have been sharing things as I buy them, so in case you want to also- you can.
As I move through this path of being an ‘influencer’, I realize my best asset is just being myself. Not chasing aesthetics or business strategies. What matters to me most is that you know you can trust me. I am in a privileged position to say no to even the most tempting advertising offers, and that, in the end, is my strategy. I do not want every post or thought to be tied to selling something. I want this to feel like a place where we can breathe a little, without the noise of constant promotion.
Please know, I will never put down influencers. This world is mostly led by women, and I think it matters to lift them up, because so many are building strong businesses and putting in real work. It is a job that takes time, creativity, and consistency, and I respect that.
K done with the chatter! A complete overview of fashion now. Zach and I headed to Paris in August where he did most of the shopping. My only purchases were a Charvet scarf and slippers (I am wearing mine only in the house but apparently lots of you wear them out too). Zach did so well at Balibaris and this incredible workwear store we fell upon while walking called Vetra. They have the most amazing jackets made from quality cotton and linen for a fairy reasonable price. Jackets that you’ll have forever- they are unisex btw! Let me know if you guys want more about Paris, I can make a substack on it but we were only there for 3 days. Thank you
for the recommendation to stay at Chateau Voltaire, it was in a great location and really nice.

Plane outfit: cardigan, non sweaty sweats (I use these for pilates too), old nikes
donni chinos, toteme blue shirt, row banana bag and mary janes
my new favourite shirt by parisian designer, jeans, old row shoes that i scored on sale, carven tote
going out t shirt, the pants that have left me at a 99 cent cost per wear ratio, cardigan, vika sandals
entire outfit from donni: sheer dress, cargos and shirt (we’re corny and went to moulin rouge, we had fun!)
Since I’ve been back the weather has been all over the place. Nothing better to me than a knit and flip flops so here’s what I’ve been wearing. I really love the mix of cashmere and poplin pants. I like creating contrast with fabrics and colour combining of course.

Substack is warning me this post is too long. I’m already working on my next one though!
join me in the chat!
xoxoxo
